    Registration Open for Tennessee Fall Newcomer's Ball! September 13 is our own competition, held at the studio. This comp is very friendly, especially for new dancers -- it is judged on proficiency scales (a grade of 0-100) instead of the skating system (ranking dancers against each other). Spectator tickets are available. Matinee tickets include admission to the competition and a coldcuts buffet lunch. Evening tickets include admission to the evening show and dance. The Full Access package includes dinner tickets, admission to all sessions, and admission to the Brad Walker party the Friday evening before.

    Thanks from Ken! We really appreciate all the well wishes and inquiries from everyone about Ken's recovery after his heart surgery. He is doing well and FINALLY going to take it easy in retirement. Although he will no longer be involved in the day-to-day operation of the studio, he hopes to still see everyone at the Friday night parties (just don't ask him to dance yet).

    Experienced Showteam Coming to Knoxville! We are thrilled to announce that Jeremy Norris and Emily Loyless of Atlanta will be at the Knoxville studio beginning Monday, August 4. Jeremy and Emily are an experience teaching team and have performed shows throughout the Southeast. They enjoy teaching all ages and levels from the beginning social dancer to the most experienced competitors. They will be providing advanced training for our staff, but are also available for private lessons. Sign up now! Jeremy and Emily will be available with the Academy Ballroom Performance Team for exhibitions for civic groups and area business. Call 539-2255 to request an exhibition for your organization.

    Next Tanya Coaching: Tanya Arnhold will be back teaching in the studio on Tuesday, August 12. Tanya was one of the judges at our comp last year. Reserve your timeslot now, for a session with this excellent coach.

    Kennedy's back and Academy's got him! Lynn Kennedy, a highly experienced dance teacher, and licensed adjudicator, will be teaching at Academy Ballroom Knoxville beginning Thursday, July 31. Lynn teaches in Morristown on Wednesdays but will be available for lessons in Knoxville on other weekdays (subject to his MC and judging schedule).

    Greg Carney, HipHop performer HipHop Coming in August: Greg Carney, local HipHop performer/instructor will be teaching at Academy Ballroom beginning August 4. Greg performed at our party August 1. His drop-in group class will be Monday nights at 8:30 p.m. -- it is great aerobic exercise and lets you get an idea of what hiphop is like. Greg will be taking signups for a HipHop mastery group series--put in your vote for the day and time. Come join this fun drop-in class and Greg can tell you more about the "71 basic steps" in the mastery curriculum.

    New Salsa Group Class Series: In July we are starting two 4-week series group classes. Salsa I will be on Tuesdays at 8 p.m., Salsa II will be on Thursdays at 7 p.m. -- these classes will preview as drop-in groups during July and start as preregistered series in August on Tuesday nights (Salsa I at 7 p.m. and Salsa II at 8p.m.). Sign up early to reserve your spot and get a discount.

    Next Brad Walker Orchestra is Friday, August 8, continuing a series of appearances on the second Friday of each month.
